One of the best books I've read in a while. I highly, highly recommend it. If you're a fan, you'll love it...and if you're not, what's wrong with you?
I needed something fluffy after my last book and this did the trick. I love Sarah and her weird, slow sense of humor, though her memoir wasn't all sunshine and laughs. I love that she talked about the bedwetting and depression she suffered in her teens, her time in NYC as a young adult, and her career highs and lows.
I have to admit, I enjoyed listening to this. It wasn't Tina Fey's Bossypants by any stretch of the imagination, but I looked forward to getting into the car to hear more.
3.5 starts -- funny, quick listen (audiobook read by Sarah Silverman is great).
Maybe I've just read too many comedian bios lately, but I wasn't as impressed with this one. While I have a sick sense of humor, this one majorly crosses the line at times. Don't get me wrong, there were definitely some funny stories and it was an easy and mindless read.
I LOVED this book. Of course, I've heard of Sarah Silverman but honestly, the most I really knew of her was the Matt Damon video and the comeback video by Jimmy Kimmel with Ben Affleck. Now that I've read this book, I will be downloading all of her shows etc. She is funny!
This was such an enjoyable hilarious read while being so crazy busy in my life, it was a much welcome break from the chaos plus she has a very dirty mind like mine!!

Wow. This did not age well. I forgot how awful she used to be. I'm glad she has evolved. Somewhat.
I love Sarah Silverman, but I guess a big part of her appeal to me is her personality, live. Perhaps this book would have fared better for me in audiobook form.
I like Sarah Silverman as a comedian. I think her engagement in the political arena in recent years has been really interesting and it has been particularly fascinating to watch her grow and change as she enters deeper into that particular arena. I think I read this book too late. It was published in 2009 and I am not sure that she would have written it in quite the same way had it been published in 2020. It was interesting to read about her take on comedy that is sometimes deemed politically incorrect and I agree with some of what she says, but there are areas which come across as a little tone deaf. At times she talks about really deep and to me, interesting things, but just as she's beginning to explore them, you get a fart joke and suddenly it's all stand up routines and surface stuff and that was tricky to navigate. It felt uneven in tone and that actually there were two books in there but only enough word count for one.
