It's definitely a celebrity autobiography, but it's funnier than most. Plus, there are penis and fart jokes.
Sometimes Sarah's humor is clever, unexpected, and inventive. Other times its overly crude and falls kinda flat. But I think that's the fun of an original comic -- not everything will work, but the punchlines don't become predictable. In the book she mentions several people that were hurt by her material but people need to calm down a bit, especially because she's not using crude material to be sensational or push any prejudice. Her humor is meant to lessen prejudice. Humor is great at doing that: giving texture to areas we're otherwise scared to fully confront. Still, overall I wish she was about 20% less offensive (just my personal taste).
This book is more humor than it is memoir but there were still some interesting autobiographical elements: Sarah shares about her early career, impressions of television network executives, anecdotes of other famous entertainers. I've always enjoyed this type of "behind the scenes" writing and will keep looking for other authors, in whatever industry, to get a sense of how all the dots are connected.
Oh, and lastly I want to mention that if you're going to give the audiobook format a try, it is definitely worth hearing an author read their own book. Silverman did the voices of her comic friends, her family members, and was able to conversationally deliver her punchlines. I honestly think I would have given 2 stars had it not been for her verbally performing what she had written.

Not super funny, but pretty funny. Not super insightful, but more than you'd expect from Silverman. Perfect length. Liked it overall.
I do not like stand up comedy, but i love sarah silverman. I loved her tv show too!! So, of course, i had to read her memoir. Sarah grew up in NH, very close to where I grew up, which presented a better picture of what was going on when she was little, in my head. I loved the first part of the book, I just couldn't stop reading it, and exclaiming to my friend. After she grew up, it got a bit more dull, but still really good. It sort of slowed down incrementally as the book went along, so by the end, I read a book or two in between. Overall loved the writing style!! It was funny and let me get to know her better. And that bedwetting thing, she may make fun of it now, but it is a pretty horrible thing to have to have as a kid. If you like Sarah, and want to gain some depth on who she is, read this. Or if you like funny memoirs. Or liked her show. I mean, I even like her sister. Just read it. :)
not enough humor to make it funny, not enough memoir to make it interesting.
I have always liked her comedy but have to admit that some parts of the book I skimmed through. Good read though overall.
Better than I thought this would be (Why did I think it was going to be bad?) Very good pee anecdotes, the cover doesn't lie.

I have never been more grateful that I don’t pee myself on a regular basis. Lots of vulgar talk but I guess that’s expected from Sarah Silverman. Sometimes I wanted to skip ahead a bit but I never did. She’s a funny writer. Reminds me of Maria Bamfords book!
Read parts of this, and not in order. A quick read, gross but funny. Not sure how she gets away with it.
