4.5 stars because there were a few too many holes in the story for me and they both really needed to grow on you.

I can say right now, this book won’t be for everyone. The female lead is a bit like me, a grandma at heart that prefers hanging with the oldies and doing ‘old people’ stuff than going out getting wasted etc. but she’s also a super stereotypical virgin (naive about everything and everyone). The male lead is basically leading a double life. The world knows him as a 30+ year old frat boy (his tv network is a ‘blokes’ thing where they go round telling chicks to show their tits on camera for money and a few other things) and she knows him as his at home persona (caring and considerate, easy going and a bit crude).

She eventually got better and so did he, and at points they both because either annoying or cringey, but overall it was also kinda realistic. Both characters felt different than the usual personalities in many romances. They won’t mesh well with people because a) he’s a bit of a douche at times, and b) she’s not really relatable to a large audience due to her personality, circumstances etc. but they felt real, like a friend you have or something. She’s super self conscious about her height etc, he’s super worried he isn’t good enough for her. He knows his network isn’t great but it made him money when he had nothing and he’s clinging to it, even though he hates the life it gives him (the women) and wants something more (he’s there to make a deal with Logan but Logan can’t respect him and he can’t really see why he wouldn’t do a deal to make money - money is really his only motivator in his business not enjoyment etc).

So yeah, they felt super real and I guess that’s what I also got from the previous series. I liked the people because they weren’t all the damn same. None of them speak the same, they’ve all got different back stories that completely make them different people and I find when reading as many romance as I do, and series where there’s a heap of friends or family members etc as the mains, they sometimes feel really similar in those series’. Like oh ones a little grumpy or into bdsm but take that away and they all the same guys. Same with the girls, ones shy or bombshell but their views are all the same they’re all attracted to the same looking guys and no one seems to have quirks or odd things they’re all just a bit ‘perfect’ (even the clumsy ones lol).

So it’s nice to see different people.

Do you need to read the previous series to understand this? No. The characters are all there, but the only mention that would really have people going ‘huh?’ Would be Cade’s appearance and why his date isn’t there, but it wasn’t in a way you’d be frustrated like you didn’t know a secret, i feel like you’d be more inclined to go read his book and see what was troubling him. The married (or to be married) couple mention how they met on the beach etc, but no more than that so it felt like a natural conversation not a huge recap of events and it made it work much more. I think it helped she knew them, and knew but barely knew the other girls so it was an observers perspective, she’d already know most of their stories etc and it didn’t need to be brought up again.

It was okay. I did not like the hero, the TV producer of a "Girls Gone Wild" type of show. He redeemed himself to the heroine by the end, but the about-face from complete misogynist asshole to lovable person didn't work for me. Though the hero is described as beautiful, knowing his attitude toward people I couldn't picture him as attractive.

I was trying to listen to the audiobook and had to DNF at an hour in. The narrator's voice sounds like a breathy little girl. It's just awful and does not fit with this story. Out of curiosity, I listened to samples of other books she had narrated and she sounds normal, a little on the girlie side, but you could listen to her. She narrates the audiobooks for this entire series, which sucks because I wanted to go through them all. I've removed them from my queue. Maybe I'll seek out the books one day.

As a spin off or complimentary series to the Billionaire Boys Club, this was okay, but nothing takes the place of the original sentiment. I liked the characters but it just didn't seem to have the same feeling as BBC. I was glad when Rob's history was (very briefly) mentioned so we know why he acts like a douchey jerk, and it was fun to see him turn himself around. I'm glad Logan was around to interject the alpha in this book because that was lacking severely.

I'm not going to give a rating because I didn't finish. Just couldn't connect to the characters at all.

Wow. WOW. wOw. wow. This book did a number on me.
At first, I hated Rob. With a passion. He was such a stuck up rich asshole, but he changed my mind after "THE SAVING". I felt like at certain parts of this book, I was Marjorie and just every length Rob went to was just amazing and wonderful and heart stopping to me. Normally, when I see love snap up in an instant, I call bullshit (and at first I did), but it felt like it was completely honest and true and that was a MAJOR piece that made me love this book. I am also not a huge fan of virgins in these books (but I've said that before with her THE VIRGIN'S GUIDE TO MISBEHAVING and that book is one of my favorites), but Clare made Marjorie screamingly virginal and it made the book work. Also, Rob was so willing to be the man that Marjorie deserved him to be, it broke my heart. He did a huge 360 in the way he acted and usually I find that unbelievable, but his felt right. This book sucked me in from the beginning and had me hooked. I had this book read in probably 3 hours. I hated for it to end so much. The only thing I have to say that I wasn't a huge fan over was the use of the word cunt so much, but since Rob was supposed to be dirty it worked. I wished I could give this book a million stars, it really hit me hard in the chest and it only takes a damn good book to do that to me. Well fucking done, Miss Clare. I hope that the rest of this series is this damn good.

I didn't like how she made everything about her being a virgin and tall

I gave this book a try a few years ago, but never finished it because I didn't care for it. But, because I ended up really liking Stranded with a Billionaire by Jessica Clare, and because I was looking for a book where the heroine was taller than the hero (for The Ripped Bodice's Bingo Contest) I decided to give it another go, this time in audio format. Unfortunately, The Billionaire and the Virgin by Jessica Clare didn't work for me the second time around either.

The Billionaire and the Virgin is about Marjorie Ivarsson, waitress and friend of Bronte, who is in the Caribbean for Bronte's wedding. There Marjorie meets Robert Cannon. Rob is there trying to get a business deal with Bronte's fiance, Logan. Rob isn't known for his gentlemen ways, but when he meets Marjorie, he can't resist her.

I liked Marjorie. She's very tall, but she's rather self-conscious about it. She can be shy, and she always seems to make friends with senior citizens wherever she goes. She loves going to Bingo, and playing shuffleboard. Marjorie is a young woman, but she enjoys the hobbies that people usually think of being done by the eldery. Marjorie is okay with that. An issue I had with Marjorie's characterization is that she's all one thing, if that makes sense. I mean, she seems to be only interested in stereotypical hobbies old ladies like to do (which is fine but also very stereotypical of the older people). But since she is a person she should have a wide array of interests. People aren't all one thing.

Robert was difficult for me to love. He's a billionaire TV Network owner, but the channel is called The Man Channel. One of the most popular shows is one where people ask women to show their breasts for money. He's not exactly proud of himself, but being successful is very important to him. While I understand that he's worked really hard to come from nothing, the way he has done it isn't exactly honorable.

There were certain aspects that I found kind of adorable about this book. When Robert and Marjorie go on their first few dates, they are so focused on trying to be what the other wants, that they sort of lose themselves. That was pretty adorable, especially on Robert's part. But once they realize what has been going one, they start over, being themselves, and they do like each other. The only problem is that Marjorie doesn't realize that Robert has been trying to meet with Logan, and that he runs The Man Channel.

I just had a difficult time connecting to the story. I should have loved Marjorie, but I didn't. Sometimes I got very frustrated with her, although I did like her. And Rob was very sweet and patient with Marjorie, which I liked. But he was a jerk to everyone else, and I'm not sure why I should care about the hero if he is an asshole to everyone else. I also was very frustrated with how Rob handled telling Marjorie about his career. I mean, seriously, why did he wait until he knew it would be a big scene. I get that he was nervous, but didn't he realize it would have been better if he told her privately?

So, The Billionaire and the Virgin was a bit of a disappointment for me. I do want to read more from Jessica Clare because I did love Stranded with a Billionaire. But this one just didn't work for me.This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook

Not my favourite from Jessica Clare and I had to warm up to the characters, but I ended up enjoying it! I reallllly didn't like Rob at first, he was such a douche, and Marj was super awkward, so it was kind of mismatch that I just didn't get. But as the story continued, it became better and better.
