I did not expect to love this series as much as I did. There were a few things I would've liked to happen differently.
honestly I was really hoping Tella and Jacks would end up together, Tella and Legend are adorable as well and I do love them but I just think that the author could've done more with Jacks and overall just had a better ending for him
In no way though does it take away from how much I loved this book and series.

Also Scarlett and Julian may just be one of my new favorite fictional couples, I usually like a bit more drama (and of course they did still have a lot) but it was just so nice and refreshing to see a healthy couple that truly just loves each other without tons of toxicity and the whole will they won't they

A good conclusion to the Caraval trilogy, again more dress designs than I needed ...but I liked the characters and was riveted by their stories. Also I liked the ending

i’m happy we got Scarlett’s POV back and i think i’m in the minority when i say i enjoyed her part of the story much more than i did Tella’s.

Wait…hold on…do I have a new favorite series?

Do I dare admit that this is my favorite series?

Yes

Yes, I do believe that the Caraval series is my favorite.

I can’t wait to re-read this series again! The romance! The villains! The sisters! The magic! Everything about it was just *chefs kiss*.

Can I touch on Scarlet’s and Tella’s relationship really quick? It reminded me so much of my relationship with my younger sister and maybe that is why I loved this book so much! “There is nothing quite so precious as the love of a sister” when I read that line I started to cry! The whole prologue of Finale is one of my favorite things I’ve ever read!

Well done Stephanie Garber! Bravo! I need to order Once Upon a Broken Heart immediately! Her writing style and storytelling ability is amazing! But my favorite thing about these books were the descriptions! I have never seen so many unique adjective and such magnificent imagery.

The descriptive parts might even be better than the exciting, action filled, plot driven scenes!

No, that’s not true…but I loved every word, when in other books I often just skim the descriptive paragraphs.

Ugh! I’m so sad this series is over!

Well, this last book was kinda disappointing! The ending, itself, was good (it was what I was expecting) but the entire book was just boring.

In this third book we have mixed points of view: some chapters are from Scarlet's perspective, other from Tella's. This makes the story very interesting and a nice complement to the other books, since "Caraval" was written from Scarlet's POV and "Legendary" from Tella's.

Overall the story was good: I really appreciated knowing more about the Fates and their powers, and discovering more about Paloma's life and the secret that involves Scarlet.

My problem with this trilogy (especially with this last book) is how long it takes for the story to follow through. Although I enjoyed "Lengendary" (the second book), it sort of dragged the story was well. Maybe, if we could take out of the second and third books everything that was just "filling", this could be one of the best duologies written in the fantasy genre. "Caraval" was such a good first book that I feel that the the other two are just dragging the entire trilogy.

To summarize: this is a very nice story, with good and strong female characters, that will do everything to keep each other (and the men they love) safe. But, it good be perfectly told in just two books what would make this one of the best fantasy stories I've ever read.

My problem with this book is that most things fall into Tella's lap. The most egregious example in my eyes is when
Jacks gives Tella and Legend the magic map that shows them the library. We, as readers, had not heard anything about the map until that moment.
In the end it just seemed like none of the main character's plans worked out which made it seem like they did nothing all book. I liked
the love triangle with Tella/Legend/Jacks but it got tiresome after a while. On the flip side, I hated the love triangle with Scarlett/Julien/the Count. I get that it was supposed to be Scarlett exploring her options, but I don't think that is always needed. Especially when Scarlett suggested a contest that cost her most of her autonomy since she would marry whoever could court her better. (Scarlett is an emotional character and this contest really removed her emotions from the equation).
I liked that
the sisters got a happy ending. I am a sucker for those endings which makes me want to forgive the rest of the book's problems.
Yet, I would not reread this book or Legendary. I would reread Caraval because it seems like a completely different story than the rest of the series. I may have come in with unrealistic expectations for the series because I read Once Upon a Broken Heart first which I thought did the Fates plot better.
