“We’ll find out clues with good old-fashioned, normal detective work.”
“Ugh.” Jackaby tossed his head back. “That sounds awful.”

Why did I wait so long to read this! I forgot how much I had loved Jackaby!

Beastly Bones takes place almost exactly where Jackaby left off. Abigail and Jackaby are requested to investigate a woman and her cat. However, things are far from what they seem when Jackaby is around. With Charlie Cane assuming his new identity in Gad's Valley, strange cats with scales are soon the least of their problems.

After experiencing Jackaby, I wasn't exactly sure who to trust in the beginning. It is always the one you would expect the least. And then it also glaringly obvious, only if you are able to pick up the signs. I will say, that the perpetrator behind the debacle wasn't nearly as shocking or surprising as it was in Jackaby. But nevertheless, it was still a fantastic read.

The humor only gets better as the story progresses and as relationships blossom. Honestly, I could not keep a straight face while reading this book. I absolutely love the quirking and unique relationship between Jackaby and Abigale.

There isn't much more I can say, only that I would rather be diving into Ghostly Echoes than writing this review.

Next one, please!

This has been good fluffy reading. After several emotional hard slog books this was nice.

I just freaking love these characters so much. The blase attitude of "of course there's dragons!" just makes it so much fun and ga. I love this series. It's so underrated

Despite what I thought was a silly premise, I enjoyed the story here, and I found great fun in following Abigail and Jackaby. Even better, interesting and perplexing things were accumulating, and we conclude with sparks of something more substantial for the third book. There's more here than simple imaginative, fairytale-esque creatures and plots. There's more at stake than I thought there would be because, though I have been able to easily pick out which characters are even remotely guilty, I am not good at knowing which characters are safe from being killed off. One character's demise, in particular, I was quite shocked by because I didn't think this was that kind of book. Apparently, I was wrong. I like that, though, because I don't vibe well with a story that's too fluffy.

This would have been a fun novella or a short story, but as a regular length book it was boring. Where was the editor! really, it read like an intro to the next book.

Another great one in what's looking to be a fun series!

'Scute!!! I mean the kiss at the end, but nonetheless, I thought this was a good follow-up to the first. I read "Jackaby" sometime last summer, I think, and I really liked Jackaby's frankness and almost lack of emotion that enhances his sense of logic and reason. There aren't many male leads like in in YA, as far as I've read, so it's nice to see a character like Jackaby in the lead. Also, I think Abigail and Charlie are too cute! <3 them so much. ;]
