Another 3.5* for this series. I'm excited to see how it concludes!

This series is such a fun and it is genuinely under-appreciated. There are some gender things which make me raise a tiny bit of an an eye brow just because I am not sure how well the dynamic of working girl gets to have the love of her life works. Maybe I'm just a bit tired of it?

Anyway this just charming. I am going to do a full review when I finish the series!

Such a lovely read. I can not wait for the next book!

"He says that the bones were his big discovery.” “You two can't possibly still be arguing about professional clout!” I said. “It's not like that,” Horner said. “"

The book is supposedly set in 1892 but it is void of anything reminiscent of 1892.

this one was going to be a 3 star until I go the end end. That last chapter really spiked my imagination

Abigail and her eccentric employer, a detective of the supernatural, Jackaby are back on the case! First, vicious shape-shifters disguise themselves as a litter of kittens and the next day their owner is found murdered with a single mysterious puncture wound. Second, in Gad's Valley, now home of Charlie Cane, dinosaur bones from a recent dig go missing and, third, a beast begins attacking animals and people leaving their mangled bodies behind. Charlie calls on Abigail and Rook for help and before they know it, they're on the hunt for a murderer, a thief, and a monster.

Beastly Bones by William Ritter, the sequel to Jackaby, is just as much fun as it's predecessor. It drew me right back into their world and I couldn't put it down. In this newest installment, we get to spend time with familiar favorites as well as meet some great new additions. Hank Hudson and Nellie Fuller are stand outs and I loved every second we had of them. Just as before I like Ritter's combination of fantasy, humor, and historical fiction. It has so many of the elements I love. If you like Sherlock and Doctor Who with a dash of Supernatural, you will most definitely enjoy Jackaby and it's wonderful sequel, Beastly Bones. This funny and fast-paced series ranks as one of my new favorites and I can't wait to see more of William Ritter and these great characters.

To be honest, I'm a bit baffled by some of the negative reviews on here, but to each their own I suppose.
This sequel, for me, managed to outdo its predecessor. The plot was more complex, and the characters still lovely and hilarious. I love the dynamic between Jackaby and Abigail, their banter and friendship and I enjoyed Jackaby
trying to give Abigail relationship advice, though my dreams of romance between Abigail and Jenny or even Nelly were dashed.

I thought the style was witty and fast paced and I liked the new characters introduced and it was a really fun read for me. I'm picking up its sequel as soon as it comes out.
