This one has me hella confused. Like was it good? No. But was bad? Also no? As soon as I read it was about a librarian heroine, I was like I gotta read it. And the library part is pretty accurate considering the other librarian books I’ve read lol and we had a light haired hero? Don’t see that too often. And the romance was actually nice and believable, but Summer was kinda annoying at times? Cole is giving her all the signs he is fully into her and sees long term plans for them. And Summer is like “Does he seem me as a fling or more? I don’t know if he likes me?” And the stalker part wasn’t as big of the plot line as I thought it would be. It’s a solid-ish read, enjoyable but not ground breaking.

"Use me anytime."

read me is a cute but somewhat forgettable romance. i appreciated how well the two MCs communicate:
Spoilerdespite the whole thing about him not telling her he went to jail,
they were still pretty honest and open with one another.
i found the part about cole’s birthday/her dad’s death anniversary was really cute. they're so good together.

"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"You're lying."
"It's rude to point that out."
"It's rude to lie."

they're also super awkward with one another when they start getting to know each other and i laughed so much because of that.

"You have great teeth," he says, then closes his eyes and frowns.
Oh. Okey. "I'll let my orthodontist know those four years weren't in vain."

i was so excited to hear about the stalker subplot, but turns out it was nonexistent. as if the author kept forgetting about it lol. it was a sub-sub-sub-plot. so disappointing… i read comments saying they saw the big reveal come, but i don’t know how it's possible because we didn't not even get enough scenes with *the stalker* for us to even feel a weird vibe about them. their behavior only got weird with summer right before their identity was revealed. or perhaps i'm just bad at reading people??

summer's whole personality was books. even her boyfriend would refer to her as "his librarian". i usually hate when this happens, but it was actually nice to see someone be so passionate about their job. i enjoyed reading a book dealing with the library because it showed how much work librarians do, and how important they are for our community: they provide knowledge, easier access to culture, but they also create a safe space for people in need, and foster talents. thank you!

ok i said cole nicknames summer "his librarian", which is cute and makes sense because it is her job. but tell me why at some point he compares her to a FREAKING GARDENING TOOL?
She's compact. Like a gardening shovel. EXCUSE ME??? and then he keeps going : Sturdy and ready to work. Easy to maneuver.

on another note, are you telling me summer's supposed to be 26???? our girl acted like a child most of the time. i'm sure the author thought she was writing a quirky and funny character, but summer was mostly annoying. you work in a library, why are you screaming people’s full governmental names like that?

"You can be bad if you want to."

moreover, for someone who is usually super open-minded, i feel like summer judged cole purely on his looks because why was she so focused on the idea that he is a bad boy??? girl? you’ve talked to him, you know there is not a single bad bone in this man. a leather jacket does not make a bad boy. this was only here to create more drama, and give a reason for summer to doubt her relationship with cole.

"Did he do something to you?"

indeed, cole was the sweetest and kindest man!! he's a soft boy and a cutie. AND HE IS A WRITER!!! he truly cared about summer, he was into her right away (yet it was not insta love and we love that!!!). he’s been coming to summer’s library for months but never dared to approach her. he kept wanting to protect her, making sure she's alright even though they were not dating yet.

Cozy read. This book screams comfort though there is the impending doom feels because of untold secrets the book still doesn't give you high stakes anxiety and inspite of
SPOILER ALERT

having a third act break up I still liked it.
A quick fun read with cute characters.

Truth always,

This is the only time TikTok has ever done right by me. They pitched it as sunshine librarian/grumpy tattooed patron with a soft spot for her, and they hit the nail on the head. I had such a great time with this. I genuinely loved both of the characters. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic was executed perfectly. So many authors think "grumpy" means "mean" or "angry," when really the character just needs to be charming and grumpy, which Cole definitely is. Also, he's a cat guy and a fantasy writer *heart eyes*. Summer's chatty eagerness and desire to help and break down his book fort balanced things out perfectly. The plot was pretty basic, but I was engaged the whole time because I just really enjoyed the characters. I'm going to be picking up more works from Lauren Connolly in the future.
