I think what annoys me most about these isn’t just the character of Desjani, it’s that every female character who gets more than one dimension of characterization almost immediately becomes a romantic or sexual interest. Most of the men have little characterization too, but it’s not so sexist with the other ones.

The story with the dancers was very touching.

This series remains consistently well-written and thought provoking, really enjoying this sequel series to The Lost Fleet. Humor plays a slightly larger role in this installment, found myself laughing out loud several times. On too book 4!

Great military sci-fi. Start at the beginning of the series and work your way through.

I'm bummed I got into this sereis before it finished & truly hope it hasn't finished yet. The author does not spend a great deal of time going over the last book, which is great when you mainlining them, but can be a bit difficult when they haven't all been published yet. Guardian was no different and as awesome as the others. Only real difference with this one is it had a solid end, but I'm really hoping it's just the end of the book and not the series.

What I like about this series lately is that the problems the fleet encounters are ever changing. Sometimes the solution is screamingly obvious, other-times fairly elegant in execution. The glue holding these periods of action remains the same though, often skimmable because it's repeated throughout each book or flimsy in interest. But new foes, differing tactics, further drama, it all keeps me engaged enough to keep reading.

What does it mean to be human and how should we treat each other? As we progress through time what would it look like to see an alternative version of ourselves? This is one of the first books I read from Mr. Hemry that asked deep questions within the text. And it was SO satisfying.

Best book within the series so far and a fitting end for a trilogy. But instead we to more books! What will he introduce us to next and will it have us question who we are?

Let's find out...

As entertaining as ever, but sadly also as forgettable by itself. I'm slowly reading my way through the entire series, and individual novels do not really stand out so far. Again we're facing a lack of a serious talk between niece and uncle (I've been waiting for this for four novels now, I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future...). But still, it's entertaining stuff - aliens, government plots, bureaucracy, a trip to old earth, space travel - there is a bit of everything.

I enjoyed the book involving more alien species rather than just having Humans included in the plot. I hope to see more involvement with other species in the next installments of the series.

I liked it. I'm ready to see what happens next- if I ever catch up on my reading, that is!
