McKenna and Leah live parallel lives. Previously employed as a pediatrician and an attorney, respectively, now both women spend their days at home. Married to highly controlling men, McKenna and Leah are isolated shells of their former selves.

During a visit to the liquor store, Leah sees McKenna and realizes that they have many things in common. After following her home, Leah realizes just how similar their lives really are. Here is where the plot thickens and I truly fell in love with this story. I rooted so much for McKenna and Leah during this book and I'm happy about the way that it ended.

4.5 out of 5 stars. This is a fantastic debut novel!

Thank you to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for an e-arc for honest review.

On a whim, Leah finds herself captivated by McKenna, a woman who lives the polished but otherwise mirror-image life of her own. While McKenna spends her days catering to her husband's every need and hoping to grow pregnant, Leah whiles away the hours drunk and mourning the career she once loved. When an opportunity arises to "save" McKenna, Leah doesn't hesitate. Will McKenna do the same for Leah?

A slight twist on the Strangers on a Train concept, but not a particularly interesting one. What really got me was how Leah was able to watch McKenna for so long and drive around so close to the city (so presumably, with other cars around) without getting into any trouble while she was drinking. You mean to tell me she didn't kiss a single bumper? I could not suspend my disbelief.

I appreciated that this was a solid book that didn’t employ a lot of contrived twists to make it interesting, but it lacked the kind of tension that would have made it a very satisfying read.

DNF because the relationship between McKenna and Zack hit a lil too close to my childhood.....

It was giving me [b:The Girl on the Train|22557272|The Girl on the Train|Paula Hawkins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1574805682l/22557272._SX50_.jpg|41107568] and [b:The Woman in the Window|40389527|The Woman in the Window|A.J.
