I've enjoyed other books by Saunders but this collection of short stories and a novella was not for me. Too much dystopia and darkness for my personal taste right now.

Great! Wish I had discovered George Saunders earlier. Accessible but poignant writing. Really captures something essential about contemporary America (which maybe I say after 7 years working an office job)

Being a huge Vonnegut fan, it seemed natural for me to end up here and I'm really not disappointed. I really enjoy satire because for one, it's funny and two, it's a way to digest the unnatural and outlandish while drawing parallels to the very things the writer is trying to call your attention to. I found this to be a really fun series of stories, creating fantastical imagery in my mind, as well as allowing me to pick through all of the symbolism laid out in front of me. Delicious.

Beautifully written, very funny, and very very very dark. I actually had to stop reading this before bedtime because it was giving me nightmares. But well worth reading in daytime.
