I know I am really in the minority on this one, but Frog was not the book for me. I liked Weber's narrative voice just fine and Cy's family was sweet, but Cyrus himself had zero personality and Web had no character development (hard to go anywhere when you're already practically perfect in every way...). Additionally, I wasn't convinced by the resolution to the central conflict - in the absence of either a specific catalyzing event or a well-developed progression in Web's thinking over the course of the book, it felt as though the author just decided it would be convenient for the disagreement to be fixed so the book could be over.
V. I have always avoided Mary Calmes books and I am trying to figure out why. I LOVED it. Once Web got his head out of his ass, I loved it even more. I disliked that multiple times serious conversation were interrupted or cut short due to horniness, but that’s just the way romance books work lol.
I liked this book but didn't love it. I kind of grew weary of Web's insecurity and need to leave and Cy's neediness. Web is the perfectguy. Everyone likes and falls in love with him. His only fault is that he doesn't think he's good enough to be a neurosurgeon's boyfriend. I loved the kids (Cy's nephews) but felt that some of the PDA that was done in front of the kids was a little inappropriate. Whether you're a straight couple or a gay one, it shouldn't be done. I found it weird that the kids didn't ask questions about Cy and Web's relationship. Kids are naturally inquisitive and nosey. Anyway, it was an enjoyable story but it didn't wow me like I expected it to.

This is one of my comfort book. Cyrus and Weber are meant for each other, but Web wasn't ready and he felt the pressure of being just a poor bull rider while Cy was a neurosurgeon; he had a lot of insecurities and he couldn't let himself be loved by Cyrus.
They saw each other just a few days at times over three years, Cyrus always clinging to every little time between rodeos Web had to come visit him.
Finally, one day, when Web shows up unexpectedly in Sa Francisco and plans to stay for just a couple of day, the perfect opportunity arises and Web is able to stay for good.
This story is full of tenderness, swoony moments, great side characters and so so much love. And the little ones are awesome!
I would have loved to have Cyrus' POV too: I know this book has been released more than 10 years ago, but I still hope the author will turn it into a full novel one day.
Highly recommended.

I am completely in love with this book. I have never read a book twice. Never!! This one very easily could. These characters were so believable and I felt completely invested in the outcome.
Weber is an out-of-work bull rider, stopping to see his on-again, off-again lover Cy, who is a well respected neurosurgeon. From the moment of their first conversation in the book, where Cy is so happy, so desperate to see Weber again, I was hooked. Weber doesn't know or understand how Cy could and does want him forever in his life. He just sees himself as a "frog" instead of a "prince." Through his interaction with Cy's sister and nephews, you immediately see why Cy wants and needs him so much.
I'd have to say that Weber Yates is one of my favorite characters ever. His gentle spirit shines through, which is the reason that children, animals, other adults and especially Cy just love him right away. The way he treats the nephews with simple love and caring, respecting each of them for who they are, made me love him even more. It's like there is a gentle golden light that good and decent people can see around him. Even Cy's co-workers can see it from the effect he has on Cy.
This book is one of my favorite favorites that I will be going back to again and again when I just want a feel-good book.
ETA (5-5-18): I picked up this book again, looking to reread a couple of my favorite parts, only to discover that I hadn't highlighted them on my NOOK. So what was I supposed to do but reread the whole book so that I could rectify that. I will always love reconnecting with these characters. Web's initial innocent obliviousness to his goodness and the effect he has on people will never get old to me.

A really good romance though there were one or two times that I thought Weber was a bit too goodie two shoes. Will definitely read more by this author.
