i really had to drag myself through the first half of the book. Past that the story was very intriguing as the story Vesta concocted in her mind, almost seemed to reveal details about her both to the reader and Vesta herself!

The book is quite slow paced to begin with, the story doesn’t really pick up till the third chapter and I’m not quite a fan of the stream of conscience style of writing used in the book which is why this book has a lower rating.

Otherwise I really like the way Otessa Moshfegh tackles certain themes in the book, including the death of the protagonists partner.

aside from being meh...the main characther is very very fatphobic,,, also she makes really weird asumtions about Eastern europe and as a slavic person myself it just made me sad,, such stupid steriotypes
