moshfegh's writing is so beyond compelling. even in a novel following one character's innermost thoughts and no real plot, i was still not bored and felt emotionally charged by this novel.

I just felt like nothing happened??!! I was expecting a murder mystery as it opens with Vesta coming across a note about a dead body- but it was far from it.

At points I thought there could be a deeper/spiritual concept behind it all as it revolves around the often irrational thoughts of an isolated, older women but I just didn’t get it 

The blurb and cover had me so excited so I was quite disappointed…
