This book is for people who have anxiety and frequently make up scenarios in their head. The entire book is this one woman’s internal monologue and she slowly spirals further and further. I actually really liked this book, to my surprise! It took me a bit to fully commit to the writing style, but once I was about a quarter of the way in I was Hooked.

I also liked viewing this book as someone trying to cope with grief and loss while understanding past trauma. It’s interesting just how little we learn about the main character and her backstory even though we are fully immersed in her narrative. However, the main threads throughout the book was death and grief. I viewed Vesta’s slow descent into madness as her way of coping with her grief (not a healthy coping strategy lmao) and it helped me understand the book on a deeper level.

I wasn’t particularly invested in all the details, but I understood the underlying storyline of a person spinning a story in their mind when their life is comparatively uninteresting, or not the way they hoped. It is interesting where she gets her inspiration and how that seems to manifest in her “real world”.
