Unfortunately I liked this a lot less than Lovelace’s other books I’ve read. Having picked up her more recent duology a lot of the poems felt redundant or stale. I also disliked that it is “the princess saves herself” theme but so much of the Queen section has poems about her husband. I know she is writing about her own experience but I would’ve left so many of those love poems out in this themed book. Some 5 star poems and some 1 star ones like just about any poetry book and definitely worth picking up just not my favorite.
