Takes a while to get interesting but eventually does and touches a lot of important topics.

Incredible and eye-opening. Read this while staying in Ghana and learnt simultaneously about the differences of the countries and names of things that I saw along my journey in Ghana but did not have the name for: such as Calabash, garri, hawkers, etc. It really enriched my stay in western-africa. Will read more from this amazing woman.

This book is able to uniquely blend the woes and pleasures of everyday life with the gut wrenching reality of war. It doesn’t mince words, but I feel like that’s beauty in it. I loved that you got know the characters and truly understood who they were, their desires and dreams outside of the context of war. It made it all that more heartbreaking. I would definitely recommend this book to history lovers and those who love to really dig into a story.

I learned a lot of history from this book. So far, my favorite of Adichie's books. The storytelling and characters were very engaging.
