Adichie is such a masterful writer. The depth and detail in her writing and characters is so good. I really enjoyed the first half of this book and then it kind of dropped off for me. I think it was when it took a dive into the deeper bits, I started to feel the weight of it. It did teach me about the history of Nigeria, which I enjoyed. Overall, another great book, but for me, it did not compare to Purple Hibiscus or Americannah.

This book was a great insight into the Nigeria-Biafran war. I loved how the story was told from muliple points of view and how it explored the way the different characters think, feel and react to the world around them and how they interact with each other.

I must say that I don't really get the hype. I didn't like the writing style and I didn't find the plot interesting. But it wasn't bad either. I think it's good that the book is about a topic that should be more well-known, but I still didn't particularly enjoy the novel. Maybe I'm missing something.
