The book is good. The plot is compelling, the characters - fairly full-fletched, the writing - really good. It really makes you believe that it’s a story of a parallel world England (or maybe even a forgotten part of our own world’s history). I just didn’t care about any of it that much - and I don’t think it was the book’s fault really.

An interesting book about the revival of magic in England in the early 1800s written in the style of that time. I enjoyed the writing and the premise, but gave up around 38%. The story definitely picked up once Strange entered the scene but it’s just too long-winded… a book to read if you have a quiet week on the beach, but I don’t have the patience otherwise.

A whimsical and fun adventure but at times tedious and circuitous. There would be moments where I was engrossed in a chapter full of mystery. And then you’d flip to the next chapter and it would somewhat detour from the story to a group of characters that I did not really care about.
