I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, well-paced, and enjoyable. As a scientist and someone that loves science fiction, I loved the frequent reference to the absurd. It had great humor, and I didn't expect the ending. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the change in tone was nice.

A big disappointment. I was not familiar with John Scalzi prior to reading. Had I been, I probably wouldn't have bothered.
What starts as a premise with a lot of possibilities runs out of energy (and laughs) after about an hour. Instead of really exploring the concepts (and potential) the book introduces, it felt like a race to a quick resolution (and then three pointless "codas") by a writer who loves his own sense of humor. My guess is that John Scalzi likely believes he is the funniest person in any room.

I really enjoyed this book! It was fun and played into well know TV Sci-fi tropes with out over doing the joke. The pace was fast and about halfway through it starts getting delightfully meta about the writing process. More than just fan service, this book takes you on a journy that is simultainously hillarious, heartfelt, and thought provoking. Will totally read this again :)

This was fun. And was surprisingly existential in a couple of places.

I really enjoyed this book a lot! But the sudden shift to 2nd person about 85% through was jarring for me in a way that has actually made me think more about why I generally do not enjoy 2nd person narration. It’s not my favorite in general, but I really struggled with being told who “I” am so much of the way through a fantastic, but challenging emotional story.
