My Secret Santa over at Library Thing bought me this book for Christmas. I have no earthly idea why they would think I would like such a thing if they looked over my library!! Anyway, I used to read Maeve Binchy back in my 20's, so it made me feel younger! And of course a nice brainless read for Christmas vacation. Not terrible, but I don't think you'll see me reading another one!

A story that revolves around the people in an evening class. Each chapter is from a different person's perspective. The stories of the characters intertwine in interesting ways, leading to a small town, almost timeless feel to the story.

Absolutely loved this. I was expecting twee old-fashioned wholesomeness, and there is plenty of that, but much more too! The story follows all the people's lives touched by this Italian class, how their decisions and changes weave together. But also, it deals with a huge amount of social change and how the different characters cope, and it's kinda wonderful how they all find what a happy ending is for them, that it's not all "everyone finds their pre-ordained partner and gets married".
Also, Connie is totally asexual and I love her.
