I received this picture book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

A very cute picture book about gardening and family. I fell in love with the cover, and just had to request it on Netgalley. And after reading I am even gladder that I got this book, because it was very sweet and gorgeously illustrated.

The book tells us about the Gaines family. How they first started with one little plant, a present for their mom, and how that grew to tons of plants in the home, eventually going outside. We see how to take care for plants (like play piano music, talk to them, give them water but not too much), we see struggles as they take their gardening outside. Plans are made, but sometimes nature has other plans, how will our family go about with those things happening. We learn that one should never give up, that you should keep going, because you are the gardeners. You are the caretakers.

The pages varied from having very little text and tons of gorgeous illustrations to more text and a few illustrations. I quite like the variety, though I have to say I was a bit bored at times with the pages with more text. It just seemed to go on and on while I felt most of these things could have said in lesser words.

As I said, the art was just absolutely gorgeous. At times I stayed on pages a bit longer due to the gorgeousness of the illustrations. I just had to soak it all up.

All in all, a pretty nice picture book about family and gardening.

We Are The Gardeners by Joanna Gaines is a cute little book about the joys of gardening. It also teaches children not to give up when little setbacks happen but to persevere and push through until they succeed. The illustrations are very cute and the writing is easy to understand. I really enjoyed this book.

It took me a couple of days to get this book read to my daughter. It’s pretty lengthy with about a paragraph per page, and my daughter just hasn’t gotten to the point where she likes to sit still through that much reading. She likes books with short sentences.

This book is informative, and discusses creating a garden, and not giving up when you have setbacks. I personally thought it was really cute, and would love to have a small garden with my daughter when she gets a little older.

The illustrations were very pretty, as well. Overall, this was a very cute book, I just wish my daughter had liked it more. We will definitely revisit it when she’s older.

The illustrations are dreamy, and I like the message of work and failure and persistence.

There are a lot of words on each page, so a bit of an older kid book. Some instruction on what it takes to grow a garden, but probably not enough to put it in the youth nonfiction section like it was at my library. More of a picture book.

I read this with my 2 year old and it is a bit long for him, but the illustrations are beautiful and i really love the message. He loves nature and gardening too.

We Are the Gardeners is a beautifully illustrated children's book, there is no doubt about that. The gentle colour scheme and designs are eye catching and absolutely adorable. The story itself and the text accompaniment however could have been better developed and had a better rhythm, and had more charm and beauty to match the pictures.

It felt to me that Gaines was trying to create a book that could be applied to different ages of child, however in doing so she doesn't get to expand on any of the strengths this book could have had and so it becomes average for all. Little ones could with the adults help play games with the pictures - but that's reliant on the readers creativity as the book itself does not particularly aid in this. Older children have the 'meh' text to read along with the adult which at moments is heartwarming, but ultimately have little to learn or expand upon here.

These illustrations are absolutely breathtaking, and this is a great story about trying over and over again. Good job, Joanna Gaines and co.

This was a really cute and quick audio with all the Gaines kids as narrators. I’m sure the illustrations in the physical copy are beautiful, as well.
