For probably at least half the book I was only still reading because I was intrigued by how Marie-Laure and her father devised ways to help her navigate the world while blind. As the threads of the story started to really come together I did end up really appreciating a lot of other aspects of the story, so I'm glad I had a reason to stick with it until then.

I especially like the specific kinds of 'passive resistance' depicted at one point, though the term isn't used. (I learned the term from some writings included in the back of The White Rose by Inge Scholl.)
