4 Stars! This was actually a really good book. I bought it for a friend’s kid who I knew was into Minecraft so I thought he might enjoy it. It seemed kind of interesting and had a good rating and I recognized the author from World War Z, so I figured I would give it a shot first before gifting it, and I actually really enjoyed it. I realize it’s more for kids but who cares? It was good and full of tons of lessons that are great for everyone to learn. Highly recommend for kids of all ages. Including 34-year-old-kids like myself. Lol. I should probably also mention that I was unfamiliar with the Minecraft game. Maybe that made it more enjoyable? I don’t know.

This is a documented dad experience of Minecraft. If your dad doesn’t understand Minecraft, give him the Jack Black audio book. If he doesn’t understand the Minecraft, he’ll appreciate the self help advice backed into the narrative :)

I haven’t played Minecraft and I still enjoyed the book. I imagine it works well with the age group it is intended for.
The audiobook is very good.

Honestly, cannot believe I enjoyed a Minecraft book this much. Funny, engaging, and uplifting prose from Brooks, brought to life by the inimitable Jack Black.
I mostly listened to this book because Jack Black was the narrator and the internet said it was funny. I guess the fact that the MC is trying to survive in Minecraft is the overall funniness of the book, because other than that, there wasn't much comedy in it. Still... Jack Black read it, the author of World War Z wrote it, and it is meant for middle schoolers so it was okay.
