This memoir is unlike any other I've ever come across. I adore Marina Abramović.

Marina's radiant soul shines through her words as she shares her journey, which stands as a testament to her unwavering strength and resilience. It takes immense courage and determination to overcome the scars left by such a traumatic past, let alone transform that pain into something so deeply meaningful. Her life and art stand as powerful examples of the human spirit's ability to endure, heal, and ultimately thrive. Marina's capacity to channel her pain into her art attests to her bravery and authenticity, revealing the beauty of her character as an artist and a person. Identities that for Marina are inextricably intertwined.

Marina's exceptional body of work has left an indelible impact on contemporary art, rightfully earning her the status of a visionary and living legend in the art world. Her performances involve intense acts of focus, vulnerability, and self-exploration, showcasing a level of dedication and discipline beyond comprehension.

I found the audiobook profoundly captivating. The power of her words combined with her voice creates an immersive experience that transcends mere storytelling. While listening, I felt as if I were transported into her world, as though I was with her and she was speaking directly to me.

I deeply admire her passion, empathy, and ability to completely surrender to the present moment. In a world often dominated by distractions and anxieties about the past or future, her practice of presence is a reminder of the importance of embracing the here and now. It encourages us to engage with the richness of every moment, to be open to the depths of our emotions, and to find meaning and beauty in every experience.

Fascinating life and work account of a fascinating person. Only complaint is that I wanted more of Marina’s thoughts and ideas behind her famous pieces.
