I admire Stephen King's prolific work ethic. This is his fourth novel in two years, and if he continues on this pace, he will have written nearly as many novels after his 'retirement' than before. Some of his more recent works, 11/22/63 comes to mind, have been some of his all-time bests. And that's saying something - to be his age and at this stage of his career, still churning out winners. Unfortunately, REVIVAL is not one of his winners. I'm not going to rehash the plot because it would spoil too many things. The big problem I had with this novel is that in spite of its 400+ page length, only about the last fifty pages are vintage King. Those pages, to be sure, are spectacular. But it took him too long to get there. If this would have been a novella or short story, it would have been raised to the pantheon of legendary. It is still a decent read, hence the three star rating. I just hope he isn't keeping up his prolific writing pace simply for the sake of putting out two books a year. If he needs to take the time to write a better book, he should be afforded that. You have nothing to prove, Stephen. You have already conquered the literary world many times over. Take your time. Your Constant Readers will be waiting. I promise.

Incredible book. As of a now a top 3 king. Pure terror and dread held up by masterful character work and storytelling. I feel like this is perfect for new and old King fans alike. Can’t recommend it enough.
