I can't say that I enjoyed this book, but I couldn't put it down.

It has been a few years since I have read a Stephen King book.
This one follows the story of one boy to adulthood. The ups and downs, good and bad, sickness and health kind of story.
He meets a man when he's only 6yrs old. This man has a huge impact on the rest of his life.
In King style there is a kind of "magic" in the story. Fixing illnesses or other ailments with "magic electricity", but does it come with consequences? It was enjoyable, a page turner. I liked it.

3.5 stars. A lot of build-up with not a very satisfying payoff. Still a page-turner, though. The last ~100 pages are hard to put down.

2024 Popsugar Reading Challenge prompt: A book by a blind or visually impaired author (macular degeneration)

A fat, satisfying King novel somewhat spoiled by a grafted-on Lovecraftian finale. Not that I don't like King's Lovecraft mode, (see "Crouch End" for a strong example), it's just that I didn't see this one coming. Maybe that's my fault and not a weakness at all; only Cthulu knows.

Excellent King novel.

I'm putting this one on the list of my favorites definitely. Not many books have managed to send chills down my spine since Simons' Summer of Night (true horror) but Revival is a masterpiece of Lovecraftian horror. The character development is crazy good and the Lovecraftian element was done so well that it kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for something terrifying to happen.

The first part of the novel is slow and there is nothing out of ordinary happening, but exactly that creates a tense atmosphere as if there is something on the brink of happening (something will happen?) which culminates in one haunting image and a troubling sermon.
