Wanted to get into the actual plot of the book rather than a million explanations and questions about why the character did certain things (basically it was too wordy and I was not interested)

My favorite thing about this book is that it has a trigger warning at the beginning and, shock and wonder, it doesn’t change the impact of the story at all. I was in a good enough place to read it anyway and I loved it, but for those who aren’t, they’ll know up front and won’t be smacked in the face with unwanted trauma reminders. Aside from that, it has my favorite kind of writing, dreamy and a little fragmented, and it’s gay, and what more do I need?

I kinda went into this book not knowing what was it about and I ended up pleasantly surprised.

I really liked the way it was written and that kept me reading way more than the story in itself.
Even because for me this book was more about Ava and the way we deal with things than with the murder in itself.
It was about realizing what an “after” is, and how it will always be an after. But you can deal with it differently.

This book is definitely not perfect. I think the way it the murder was resolved was a bit too rushed and not very developed. Also I don’t think the cover really matches the story.
Even then this was a great book.

Beautiful Book

I will be honest and admit that at first I wasn't sure that I could get into this book. The prose and points of view are beautiful, but I was beginning to get discouraged that nothing was actually playing out and advancing... But then it suddenly snowballs, and it's amazing and beautiful. If you begin to feel this way, too, please keep reading until the end. It's a stunning book and deeply personal. Read the author's note at the end as well.

Sad, disturbing, and stressful. But a good look at post-traumatic stress from sexual assault. Give to mature readers who like psychological thrillers like Sadie by Summer. Includes resources.
