In the beginning, I was very interested, I couldn't wait to read more. Then at some point, it became a bit of a slog. The ending was fine, the story was believable enough but I think for me it was the sheer lack of hiking safety that really put me off.
The fact that the 3 women are even attempting such a challenging hike with zero experience is insanity. They also seem to be surviving on noodles(?) and turn down fresh fish because it's "creepy". I couldn't help but scream into the pages YOU NEED MORE FOOD!
I kept getting confused about the number of friends, was it 3 or 4, that simply was because 2 of them were so forgettable they were interchangeable to me.
So a 3/5, an easy read, with a decent story but the characters let it down.

an enjoyable but infuriating read. love a destination thriller, love that this was a different setting to your normal plush Caribbean getaway but the character's decisions at times were just so ridiculous that it drove me mad. But still it was a great read whilst I was travelling.
On paper, this is right on brand for me. Female friendship? Hike gone wrong? Norway?? Sounds great, but wow was it a slog that truly did not pay off.

Four friends. One hiking trip in Norway. And secrets they can’t leave behind…
Every year, they meet for a getaway—usually cocktails and sunshine. This year, it’s a chilly, rugged mountain hike through the Norwegian wilderness… and not everyone’s thrilled with the change in pace. One of them has something to hide. And not everyone is coming back down the trail.
Told from multiple POVs, this is a fast-paced, easy read—perfect for when you want suspense without too much complexity. There’s a real sense of atmosphere, and the remote setting adds a constant edge of unease.
Although this was my first by Lucy Clarke, it reminded me a lot of Girl Falling by Hayley Scrivenor—so if you liked that, you might enjoy this too. Some elements felt familiar, but the story kept me engaged and delivered enough twists to keep the pages turning.
Not groundbreaking, but solid, suspenseful, and ideal for a weekend binge. I’ll definitely check out more from Clarke.
