The audiobook narrator definitely improved this story. I think the humor works with the audio book better than it might on the page.

This was a fast and mostly enjoyable read, even though I found the main character too self-absorbed and bordering on obnoxious. (To be fair, his best friend and the other friends we get to see aren't any better for the most part.)

What I liked most about this book was a healthy look at conventionally "romantic" gestures and how bothersome and unromantic they are when someone tries to pull that BS in real life, especially when they try to use it as a replacement for honest communication.
This was such a welcome dose of reality, especially after the last book I read (by Sarah Jio), which was all about romanticizing the stupid pseudo-romantic BS.

It was going mostly well until we got to the last 1/3 of the book.
At first I enjoyed the constant inner monologues. PK was definitely   funny in his scattered brain. But then his random side tangents would just go on and on. I know it was supposed to be for comedic reasons, and some were very fun but too many were just so drawn out.
As annoying as PK (MC) could be, I found him likeable. I could see why he made the decision that he made. Art made it very clear for years they wanted that huge declarative kind of love, so PK making a grand gesture made sense. How he went about it, was definitely ridiculous but I still found PK to be charming. I however did not like Art. They were consistently mean and condescending to PK. If Art knows PK isn't comfortable with talking about his feelings, why make it more difficult for him to talk about his feelings by saying, repeatedly, how emotionally unintelligent he is. And this was just in the time span of the book, I can only imagine how many times they have said it to PK since they met.
Being that the book was from PK's POV only, we got to see how in love he was with Art but because of the lack of dialogue between the characters, we not only don't get to know Art but by the end of the book I was still questioning whether Art actually liked PK romantically. It was PK that brought Art lunch often. It was PK that opened his home and without judgement. It sounds like it was Art's fault why they weren't in touch like they used to be while Art was dating his ex. Art had never even been to PK's office, didn't even know where it was until the end of the book, after all these years. Not to mention Art giving PK way too much credit for the both not being truthful for years and their bashing of PK being emotionall  closed of when, again, Art hadn't been truthful this whole time either. Granted they hadn't wrote a book about it but still.
Another thing that bothered me was how much Art and Wade (a side character) acted like Art was the one dating down/ making concessions by being with PK.
PK needs a new social circle. The only one not terrible to him were his parents and Wade's girlfriend.

Even though the constant stream of consciousness became annoying after a while, I would have still given the book a 3.25 stars but the end of the book just brought it down for me. I didn't hate the book but I don't think I would recommend it either.

A very queer and very cute friends-to-lovers romance with plenty of wackiness on the side.

Very funny book. I loved all of the characters but the main character can be alittle annoying. He went into a tangent about fingers for a min. He has too many thoughts that have nothing to do with the plot. The thoughts make him relatable but he goes into these ramblings too much.
