I was not a fan of Aileena's overwhelming bloodlust. Like...I wouldn't even call it vengeance, it was just bloodlust. I enjoyed the premise of the story, but unless Aileena is part Fae are something, her overwhelming submission to darkness is ridiculously extreme. I like Kiaren, although I definitely don't trust him. The writing was imaginative and immersive, and the inclusion of streamline elements was excellently done.

Taught it would be like the fever series, but there’s no compacting that. The beginning I got reminded of the Wicked trilogy of Armentrout, but since this came out before that, I think the copying was the other way around?

The book is okay, and I am curious for part 2, but I expected more spice

Very enjoyable start to a series that I knew basically nothing about walking in. The first chapter felt like it was going to be a generic novel and it proved to be anything but. If not for being sandwiched between reading Jemisin and Johansen, I would have been tempted to give this five stars, but it just wasn't as good as the books I bracketed it with. Which isn't much of a knock, given how much I loved those other books.

An adventurous mash up of genres, with a bloodthirsty heroine at the center, and a cliff-hanger that ruins lives. What a fun read! Review to come.

Má to i dostatečnou akci.
