short romances are so interesting because the book literally was just like "i hate this nigga hope he dies (gets fired) lol 😋" and then at the last minute the nigga goes "you want me" and then they just fuck like yo ??? what happened to hi?? hello???

I think that author writes actually good contemporary romance (imagine me admitting any contemporary romance is good nowadays? 🤯) but this just wasn’t, and I blame the novella format. Two rival colleagues who have never even to themselves admitted that they like/love each other don’t go committed relationship in 2 night beachside trip (with a ton of work in between), it should have been:
a) a full length novel with proper plot
b) novella where they’re friends with benefits/rivals at work that finally admitted their feelings during the trip
c) novella where they’re friends who are secretly in love with each other and that’s revealed during the trip

But the format totally derailed the potential. Because the bare bones of a good book were actually here, and I’m so sad I didn’t get to read that!
