Incredibly predictable, no character development. Sex scenes were prevalent and unrealistic/outright harmful (without any kind of negotiation of kink). (Example: as a virgin, the literal first time, minimal foreplay "and then he filled her completely." YIKES. At least once he comes in her mouth and then is apparently hard enough to be fucking her two paragraphs later. 🙄 I know there's a certain suspension of disbelief with immortal characters, but that was too much for me.)

Modern take on the story of hades and persephone. Very easy read

The only offense of this book is how predictable and boring it was. I cannot complain about much because it wasn't much.
i was genuinely so excited to read this book because i grew up in wattpad books about greek gods. when i started the book it was giving. it was giving like mafia boss meets stubborn girl who speaks her mind. the mmc was giving “i hate everyone but you” and i love that. these are my fave cliches. but halfway thru they literally just start FKING and they DONT STOP. IN THE TUB IN THE BED IN THE CAR!!!! which is fine IF the plot is still there. the revelation of why and how she didn’t have powers was just tossed in there. despite how much Hecate was supposed to have been this all controlling figure in her life, i feel like that part of the story was barely explored. i don’t even understand where the series could really go from here and im not sure if ill continue reading, it was not terrible tho

Maybe I'm extra disappointed because I was excited for a modern Persephone x Hades retelling. In the beginning I thought it would be Hades who'd be a hard sell, but he was inoffensive. Hard to even enjoy the smut when I care so little about Persephone. They really needed the Fates to make Persephone x Hades a thing because Persephone has no lovable traits that Hades would've fallen for. Persephone has a lot of unearned sass, likes to pretend to be a girl boss but has the foresight of a toddler, putting her into damsel in distress situations. She's somehow a journalism university student, but is consistently uncritical, biased, and quick to jump to conclusions. Girl gets drugged, and proceeds to babble about "you must be jealous if you saved me from being assaulted", with absolutely no concern for her (mortal) best friend who might have also been drugged. Persephone needs some goddamn consequences for her constant thoughtless behavior (would've loved to see interrupting Hecate lead to a haywire curse or smth ). Gods that found out about her baby her and allow her to remain naive and unaware. I did enjoy the scene with her mother where she sets boundaries.
Minor: Sexual assault
