The relationship between Hades and Persephone wasn’t my favorite or how they were portrayed.

"I have waited lifetimes for you"

I am a sucker for a Hades and Persephone retelling, and this definitely lived up to my expectations. I absolutely loved the modern day setting, and the the different characteristics of the gods. Will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
emotional lighthearted medium-paced

I think this book has finally made me realize I kind of like slow burns and desire and falling in love tropes. And I do not enjoy fated mates or immediate love. It’s a little boring and adds nothing to the story. How am I supposed to believe Hes fully invested in her after two sentences? I also dislike that she’s the young naive one that he is going to corrupt with his tallness. Like we get it, he’s taller than her. The first part of this book is just her whining against her mom and going to a club/ university. Nothing else is built up too much, not her friend or her world. Hopefully it progresses me or builds their relationship more so it’s not just him calling her “darling” and expecting us to swoon. One of my biggest pet peeves is height differences but also when authors don’t actually think through them. If she’s sooooo tiny compared to him, their sex life would be dramatically different. Nope! she can still kiss his neck as he bangs her standing up. Ridiculous. The main plot points are also forgotten or glazed over - she usually meets with her mother once a week but that’s not mentioned, her job isnt mentioned. The main character is also stupid- she doesn’t think before she acts which puts her in positions where she can be saved. A little tiresome.i also dislike the trope where all a woman needs is to fall in love and have a man encourage her to find her true power. suddenly she’s amazing at her magic she never knew she had? Overall this book was relatively boring and did have the yearning or adoration I wanted it to. The main character has some redeemable parts but the plot doesn’t flow well.
