3.5/5. I think if I hadn’t read this on the tail end of House of Earth and Blood by SJM I would’ve liked it more. It’s not very long, and the plot feels rushed. A good chunk of the book is also just sex, which I think takes away from the actual character development and makes you ~think~ that there is love happening. Will I read the second book? Probably. Was it bad? Not at all! I almost feel like there doesn’t need to be more to this series. Persephone’s story is wrapped in the last page, I can only imagine what torture we’ll have in the next book. Also, maybe unpopular opinion but Persephone is annoying AF and dramatic AF. It’s part of the ~tension~ throughout the book that I just don’t think is written well. Hades on the other hand is an amazing character. Why are Persephone, Demeter, Lexa, etc. all such flat, two dimensional characters?
*spoilers, sorta*
I expected Persephone to find herself in this book, but instead she remained a 16 year old girl that constantly complained about everything in her life. Everyone was against her. The man that loved her? Oh Aphrodite said it was real love so that must mean it was fake ?????? I don’t get Persephone. She is one of my favorite goddesses in Greek mythology and this novel made her out to be such a winy little snob, not the sheltered, quiet girl that Demeter would’ve raised in this situation. Too much fake arguing and pointless additions to the plot.
*spoilers*
What was the point of Adonis #1, being a creep & #2 blackmailing her? We all knew it was Minthe who took the pics? And suddenly that entire plot point is just easily fixed by lexa’s new hacker boyfriend??? Like what??

Anyway— solid 3.5. Smut scenes are great! I wish the energy put into those were also spread through the rest of the book so the plot was less rushed. Yes, I know that hades and persephone were meant to be, but that doesn’t mean she has to ~feel heat pool in her core~ the second she meets him.

well that was light and fun and reminceant of a romcom! It's not to be taken seriously, it was light and airy. The plot was rushed but it was balanced plot and spice.

The FMC was too wishy washy. I liked the perspective from the MMC though at the end.
