short sweet one bc my brain be feelin wavy
-i'm a slut for a short story collection. love em.
-i've read two books now that were set in hawai'i and had native hawai'ian MCs and i really liked both of them. i would love to read more fiction in this vein
-it was horny in all the best ways! it's important to the story and it's not smut for smut's sake. really enjoyed that here

Loved: the look into indigenous Hawaiian culture and mythology! Also, the queer rep, unexpected but loved that!

To start, I didn’t realize this was a collection of short stories and not a novel — that’s on me. I don’t know that I’ve read many story collections where all were by the same author, so that was interesting. It became solely about the plot of each and not about adjusting to a different writing style or whatnot and so when I didn’t like a story, I knew exactly what it was about it. We start off with some menstrual cycle body horror and it just never really went far up for me from there.
