Patti Smith is a good writer. Parts of her story are poignant. Also, this book might be an extended humble-brag, a remarkably-executed instagram post showing she just woke up like this.

This books has lots of name-dropping of artists and celebrities, which feels like an insult to the punk ethos. Also extended descriptions about what exactly she wore when. I moved past my exasperation by reminding myself that some people are Enneagram type 4s. That's just who they are.

And then I listened to Gloria a bunch of times.
