I absolutely ADORE this book! I laughed, I cried, I felt hope. Just be sure to read the content warnings before reading this one as the topic is VERY heavy.

Pals.... the amount of crying I did while reading this book... wow. I really didn't see it coming - don't let that bright, fun cover fool you, this story is jam-packed with emotion. I've admitted more than once that romance isn't my go-to genre, but I've been in the mood for light, fun reads lately and picked this one thinking that's what was in store - but it wasn't. But, I loved it. There were some bright and fun moments, but beyond that it was heartwarming, heartbreaking, utterly sad, utterly happy, grief-filled, romantic, and just so well written. Maybe a couple trigger warnings are called for (Alzheimer's and some others), but if you're like me and just love where a book takes you whether it's somewhere happy or sad, then I say charge ahead and you'll come out a little stronger on the other side. Kate is relatable and a crazy endearing character - along with basically everyone else. Hugh takes the cake for being THE most empathetic and caring man, EVER. I chuckled at the lighter moments and found joy in some of the modern-day references, like James Bond sitting in the shower clothed... and something else that has simply escaped me at the moment. The acknowledgements made it clear the author wrote what she knew, and she wrote it genuinely from the heart - and it shows. Also, I listened to this and the narrator was perfection.

This is one that definitely pulls hard at your heartstrings. Kate loses her husband and learns to continue life and find love again afterwards, while raising her young son. I enjoyed the flashbacks throughout to help tell the story.
