The continued use of the word “Indian” when referring to the sioux-natives that play a huge part in the book, was quite frankly uncomfortable, however historically accurate it may be. But besides that it was a pretty solid book that explores fragile family dynamics (and dynasties) through the lense of a boy old enough to understand what is going on but not old enough to understand the repercussions. A quick read.

When I began reading this book I thought it would be boring and not worth reading considering that I was reading the story for school and most novels that I read for study are quite dull and slow . But I really enjoyed this book so much so that I finished the large majority of the novel within a few hours. If you like enjoyed the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee then give Montana 1984 a go.
