I found this book at a used book sale for two dollars, basing my purchase from the mysterious title and beautiful cover art ( yes I chose to judge a book by its cover ). I chose just a short book to get myself out of a reading slump, it wasn't meant to be a book I found particularly interesting. I found the plot interesting yet didn't focus on it, but I discovered that I found the lense most interesting about this novel. This story is told through the lense of the main character David, the story of his summer as a little boy. Through many beuitufl lines that have little to nothing to do about the plot of the novel I can see my own family through passages. There's teival points in which every person can relate to in life ( how defenseless one feels when they see their parents crying or the censorship of stories one receives and knows they are untrue ). I feel this novel is okay plot wise, but when looking at the narritave value of this story I belive it is quite powerful and relatable.

When I began reading this book I thought it would be boring and not worth reading considering that I was reading the story for school and most novels that I read for study are quite dull and slow . But I really enjoyed this book so much so that I finished the large majority of the novel within a few hours. If you like enjoyed the novel To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee then give Montana 1984 a go.
Graphic: Racial slurs and Racism
Moderate: Addiction, Violence, Gun violence, Suicide, Rape, and Sexual assault
