I have only read a few of dark academia and just started to read recently. This is a mixed bag, there were good ones and bad ones as well. There were a lot of gripping stories. I liked “Pythia” and “The Hare and The Hound.”  A few I feel is not really dark academia but that’s what you get in an anthology.

Thank you Netgalley for the free ARC copy in exchange for a review.

DID NOT FINISH: 35%

I skimmed the beginning of some of the other stories and I didn't feel like I'd be able to get into it. I feel like the genre doesn't work well with short stories.

Cannot listen to the audiobook reader. Very Smallville Lana Lang breathiness to the ends of the sentences.
slow-paced

I'm so sad and disappointed. I thought I would love these. But I was so bored, so.. meh?
I really should have DNF this, but I just kept hoping the next short story was gonna wow me, but it really didnt. :(

It's always so hard to rate anthologies because there are so many separate stories in one. This is my second anthology that I've read, and I have a god system down.  I rate each story individual, add them up and divide by how many stories there are.  I will be discussing my two favorites' stories, that I gave 5 stars.

Pythia, I just love everything that Olivie Blake and this was no different.  I love her writing so much and I felt like this story was the perfect short story. I feel like some short stories don't give enough and that it leaves you longing for me.

I love the story, and it just was so good. I love how it was formatted, part deposition and part expiation from a clinical psychologist. There was this cult of technomancers  and it just was a great read.

The Hound and the Hare, this was a magical realism psychological horror short story.  This was written by Kelly Andrew, and I loved this! This was so creepy and haunting. This might be my favorite story that I read.  I love the writing of the story and the psychosocial horror aspect of it.

This was such a great collection of stories! I love anthologies because of how many different stories there are and the chance to be exposed to different authors as well. This was also a great read since I am the biggest mood reader and there were different story types and writing. Dark academia is just perfect for the fall!

This book was a mixed bag. Some of the stories were really good and well written but others just drug on and I didn’t enjoy them at all. A fee needed to be fleshed out more and just didn’t work as short stories. Oh well!
