3.4 AVERAGE

3.5 if you average all of my ratings

1000 ships -5⭐️ perfect can’t wait to read the book.

Pythia -4⭐️ good, snappy dialogue. Left me wanting though.

Sabbatical - 2.5-3 ⭐️the self deprecation was humorous, but over all kinda boring.

The Hare and the Hound- 3.5 ⭐️ predictable, but I like the revenge.

X-House- 3 ⭐️ had a good sense of tension from the get go, but the ending was so meh.

The Ravages- 4.5⭐️ dramatic, bookish, petty revenge.

Four Funerals- 2.5⭐️ uncomfortable

The Unknowable Pleasures- 2.5 ⭐️ kinda…boring.

Weekend at Bertie’s- 3 ⭐️ I liked it, but I didn’t consider this dark academia? If the definition of Dark Academia is something dark that happened TO someone IN academia…I suppose it fits.

The Professor of Ontography- 3.5⭐️ well written and horrifying!

Phobos- 4.5⭐️ I would’ve liked an entire book for this one.

Playing- 2⭐️ kind of not a great way to end the anthology.

This is a hard one to rate, because I did love a couple of the stories and all the writing was really engaging and interesting BUT as short stories I felt like some of them didn't have enough pages to really tell the story they were trying to tell. I would definitely read full books from almost all of these authors.

My favorites were Pythia by Olivie Blake, The Hare and the Hound by Kelly Andrews, X House by JT Ellison, and The Professor of Ontography by Helen Grant.

I love the general vibes of this book, and I love Dark Academia and I love the idea of this anthology. I can't wait to read more of the authors featured because before this I had only read Olivie Blake and ML Rio so this was a great introduction to the new-to me authors!

really well edited and put together anthology! loved the pieces, i really enjoyed how they all brought something different to the table - i especially enjoyed the creepy ones.

A good place to start if you're interested in the world of Dark Academia. For me, I prefer my DA to lean more towards the realms of fantasy, magic and paranormal, so there were a few in here that I just didn't vibe with, not to say they were badly written, they just weren't my preferred genre within DA. Overall it's a good anthology with some very well written stories. My favourite overall was The Professor of Ontography by Helen Grant, a well rounded Dark Academia love story with a horror twist.

My other favourite's:
The Hare and the Hound by Kelly Andrew.
X House by J. T. Ellison
The Ravages by Layne Fargo
