A quick read. Brother’s best friend romance. Overall I liked the idea of the book better than the execution.

I found Olivia too messy and almost childish. She’s supposed to be 25, but it felt more like 16… which made it awkward at times. And unfortunately, Colin is kind of bland.

I usually like Lynn Painter's quirky characters, but I did not find Olivia sympathetic. She created her own drama by lying to get a job, and I found it difficult to connect with her after that.

I love LP's writing and characters and stories so much. I really enjoyed reading this book, but the characters really got on my nerves at times, I won't lie.

Era todo lo q esperaba, un cliché gracioso, salí satisfecha pq el hermano de Olivia me cayó bien, el final idk algo apresurado lo sentí pero x

I accidentally read the second book first, and I liked it more than this one. I just feel like these two didn't have the same chemistry as Hallie and Jack in the spin off. Olivia was definitely annoying at times and MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE?? Oof didn't love that. But I will say something about Lynn Painter's books really get me. Still enjoyed it, just not my fave!

Olivia is either super cute and adorable, fun and unpredictable, life of the party dream girl, or she is an over-the-top ridiculous clumsy mess of a worst-girlfriend-ever. Often times in this book she is both. Circumstances out of her control lead to bad luck situation after bad luck situation. But also, circumstances well within her control do, too. She's 25, so some of it can be explained away. She's a bit entitled and without boundaries, but I can forgive that. Jumping to conclusion and knocking Colin down with some pretty harsh words - twice - not sure I would be as generous as Colin is. I loved their IRL banter more than their text banter. I enjoyed watching Olivia, with 9-lives like reflexes, always land on her feet. I loved Colin. If only someone would have smacked her mother and made her stop being so awful, I could have given this an extra star, but as in all the other contradictions to this book, I love that even though she's no mother-of-the-year, Olivia stayed respectful to her mom through to the very end. Overall, I think this was a cute book with a solid premise and a pretty decent execution.
