The story definitely kept me interested, regardless of perhaps feeling a little rushed in some parts. I feel in some cases that things were left to the readers imagination that would have been more well suited if Henderson spent more time on that storyline then maybe the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, those were cool but at times, it just felt recycled. Countess, fingers, blood. Yeah yeah yeah, okay. I've heard this like 5 times before. Also, feeling on the other bloodmaids' beauty felt excessive at times. Things could have been better prioritized. Still, I enjoyed the story.

okay, i thought i was going to love this. the premise sounded amazing. a sapphic, vampire-adjacent gothic novel? my brain says “give here 🙇🏻♀️”
this story was just not as fleshed out as i wanted it to be. we had amazing world building, but what’s the point if the other households didn’t play any significant part in the plot? they were kind of just there. i agree with a lot of other reviewers that marion’s attachment and obsession with lisavet seemed so sudden and underdeveloped. and, the conclusion (~ last 50 pages) seemed so rushed. it was almost like the author didn’t know how to end it so just gave us this awkward and unbelievable chasing-stabbing-kissing repeated montage until it finally came to an end.
i just wanted MORE. more details, more development, more plot, more suspense. you know?
edit: one thing i did love about this book was how it was centered it around lust and desire, an incredibly important theme in gothic and vampire literature. the author did a really amazing job with that.
