"Desire is a kind of madness."

This was a tough read for my anaemic ass but so worth it. This is a novel you absolutely HAVE to read to the end regardless of your thoughts on it, I promise.

I loved the worldbuilding, I liked the characters, I loved the detail of the descriptions of the House of Hunger in all its opulence. And most of all I ADORED
how this novel subverts the idea of a dark/vampiric romance?? Like I have never seen this done before, and the effect is astoundingly good once you reach the twist ending. I suspected Lisavet was just a vampire or something but the reality was even more interesting. I really admire how this novel subverts a typical dark romance with Lisavet and Marion. Like, usually Marion being pitted against the other Bloodmaids and exploited by Lisavet wouldn't be intended to be bad (though it clearly is) while HERE we get an ending of escape and sisterhood. Even Cecelia, who is set up as the 'rival', is treated with so much nuance by the end. Gosh this is just, like genius??

This is honestly my favorite kind of book—a little dark, a little gay, a little salacious—with vampires.

I loved this. I was a bit hesitant but as soon as I started reading this I fell in love with it. Perfection to me.
