A little depressing ending.  Didn’t love it. Was too realistic.  People got treated as stereotypes would indicate.  Without giving it away.  So it’s a sad reflection of reality and depressing

Near future semi-post-apocalyptic tale with interesting social commentary on class, race, and gender. Four and enough stars that I'm rounding up to a five.

Near future New York is increasingly economically divided as the wealthy return to the city pushing out the poor. When a large storm hits, the wealthy flee leaving behind those to poor to run. However, as the waters subside, the rich again return bringing the old conflicts back.

A moving story in and Apocalyptic future dealing with the ravages of climate change and water shortages and still entrenched racism and the struggle of BIPOC, LGBTQ, especially transgender and non binary ... Am amazing story but be aware this story includes all the trigger warnings... No, not all of them but very many because apocalypse brings out lots of horrors. But that said the support given by friends and those in the book throughout all the issues, panics attacks  , sickness, deaths, assaults, and other attacks and traumas are acts of love.  uplifting and bring hope

I loved this. It hurt my heart to read, but I loved it nonetheless. It was real, almost too real, but I loved the variety of experiences it showed. Also, I always love a genderqueer main character

So dark -
and I finally stopped listening to the story before I’m assuming the main character gets raped.

What an amazing story! I was sceptical at first but the plot just carried me away into this amazingly well-realized world! The voice-acting in the audio version is great and adds a lot to the overall story.
