This was an amazing read for the new year transition. I asked for this for Christmas and was not disappointed. I loved JVN already and now I absolutely adore him. I am also in love with the child version, baby Jack. If you don’t watch Queer Eye, start watching for so many reasons. If you haven’t read this book, read it!
Love, love, love. Jonathan doesn't hold back in sharing every difficult stepping stone to becoming the confident person he is today. I could listen to his book over and over and not just because of the soothing sound of his voice.
This was one of the more open and honest memoirs I’ve read. Loved listening to him tell his story and not back away from talking about the darker, harder parts of his life. He was so open with his emotions and it felt like he was allowing his readers to get to know him and it was wonderful.
I would recommend listening to the audiobook! It’s so fun to hear JVN speak his life and these stories. This book is equal parts hilarious and absolutely heart-wrenching. ❤️ Definitely worth the read.
What a privilege to get to share in such a raw, compassionate, beautiful memoir! Thank you, Jonathan!
Binge-listened to the audiobook. He’s just as lovable as you think he is... and more complicated than you know. A good read.
I really enjoy JVN - I've been a fan since Gay of Thrones and love Queer Eye. This was a really personal story that he shared about his upbringing and struggles and I thought it was very raw and real. I listened to the audiobook version and I really liked that Jonathan read it himself - he's so fun to listen to and it's much more personal when the author reads it!
I love JVN, and this book is written exactly in his voice. If you like Queen JVN, you’ll like the book.
If you are looking for a traditional, stuffy autobiography with proper paragraphs and linear reminiscence, then this isn't the book for you.
But honestly, who would actually *want* that from a JVN autobiography?
This autobiography is basically like a one-sided conversation that you could easily have with a friend on your couch, in the salon, or with a total stranger on a long flight.
JVN tells their story in their trademark authentic and forgiving way, and I definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for a story about resilience and finding self-love.
