It was a little too slow for me, and I wasn't super invested in the Gelato plot, although it sounded super interesting at first.

This was not the light romance that I picked it up expecting. It is instead a very intense romance - both in a “steamy scenes” way and in “containing common triggers” way. Take a look at the trigger warnings before picking this one up.

SpoilerWhile I know that a certain ending pattern is expected for a romance, this ending was tied up too nicely with a bow and undermines the story that was told before.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Five stars because this book was the perfect mix of emotion, love and character building for me.

Also, I cried like 3 times during this story, maybe because I was listening to quiet piano music while reading. I just loved the emotion of Iris going through everything of missing her mother. I also loved how she discovered more and more about the Belotti family.

2.75 ⭐️ rounded to 3 I didn’t hate the book but it just wasn’t it for me. The FMC repeated her woe is me internal monologue too much, and the British narrators attempt at a NYC accent was the same for every character whether they were male or female.

Iris and Gio fall in love over gelato despite Iris holding on to a closely-guarded family secret of Gio’s, which inevitably eats her alive throughout the book.
