Who knew a book about mysterious murders and racism could be so Mississippi goddamn hilarious?!

The Trees has short chapters, a truly chaotic and diverse cast of characters and tackles Southern living and Reparations with humor. I loved it! There are some bleak fucking scenes and some real gross outs, but the folks getting killed are all despicable human beings so it's all fine. The story moves fast and I honestly kept chuckling over the redneck names and their behavior.

I especially enjoyed the depiction of a certain racist president.
