This is an Adult Epic Fantasy centered around 2 siblings.
Gyre decided 12 years ago that he wanted to destroy the twilight order. Right after they came and took his sister Maya, and destroyed their family.
Set in a world where the Twilight Order employs magical beings, Maya and Gyre find each other on opposite sides. Can blood overcome everything they’ve been taught or will one of them have to remove the other to accomplish what they set out to do?

For an epic Fantasy, I thought the book was well paced and had good world building. I did have some trouble imagining some of the monsters but I’m thinking that had more to do with struggling to understand the narrator at certain points. For how many characters there were I was surprised their was only one narrator to voice them all.
There were no characters I really fell in love with. I enjoyed Maya and Becks relationship but really didn’t understand Gyre and Kits. I found Kit to be annoying and Gyre came off as a brat.
The way the first book ended didn’t create any strong emotions but I’m still considering book two in the series. One of the problems with epic fantasies is how large of a commitment they are if you don’t love them.

I would recommend this to epic fantasy fans. There are relationships in the story but they are fade to black. This story has magic, monsters and found family.

I will be reading this book in a bit more than 10 days at Fantasy Buddy Reads and I cannot wait to start with this series!
And the reason I cannot contain my enthusiasm? I wrote the reasons why I added this series on my TBR!
