Really well written, but still so hard to read. It really makes you frustrated and i felt so bad for shuggie. The way that it made me feel literal pain and disgust, and it's representating stories that are most likely similar to reality

a brutal and devastating tale of addiction, abuse, poverty and familial responsibility. every character is so well written and fleshed out entirely. my heart aches for the children at the heart of this story.

One of, if not, the best book I have ever read. Somehow the author makes you fall in love with every single character despite their plentiful flaws. The setting of Glasgow acting as almost a character itself gave such good imagery and a place to experience all of the intense emotions readers will feel while reading this modern day classic.
